Who We Are
We want
to "cultivate a community of caring believers growing together in Christ
likeness." Our vision is to reach belton and the surrounding communities with
the truth about Jesus Christ.
The
Bible tells us about God's amazing love for us. This love is embodied in the
person of Jesus Christ. It is our goal to share this message with our friends,
neighbors, coworkers, and our community.
We know
that God cares deeply about the lives of people from every walk of life. God
created us to have wonderful fellowship with him. Tragically, we have gone our
own way apart from God. Men and women throughout the centuries have struggled
with pride, greed, self-centered intentions and an overall inability to fully
grasp the meaning and purpose of life. The Bible calls this self-centeredness
sin. It is this basic problem of sin that is mankind's number one
problem.
Because God is completely holy and just, our crimes against him must be
punished. Just as a person earns a wage at a job, the Bible says that the wages
of sin is death. The hard, cold truth of the matter is this: we all stand as
condemned sinners before God, justly deserving punishment for our sins.
If
that were the end of the story, we would all be like condemned prisoners on
death row, waiting for our sentence to be carried out.
The
unfathomable love of God has accomplished what men could not and cannot. God
became man so that he could pay the penalty for our sin. When Jesus Christ died
on the cross, he had no sin of his own to pay. Instead he took the sins of the
whole world -- past, present, and future -- and paid the penalty that we owe.
But, He did not stay dead! Three days later He rose from the from the grave,
just as He said He would, and completely conquered sin and death.
Like
any present, this gift must be accepted for it to be ours. The only requirement
that God demands of us now is that we accept the payment that Christ made on our
behalf. It takes a personal trust in Jesus Christ as Savior for this wonderful
gift to be yours.
So......who are we? We are ordinary people who have recognized that we
are sinful. We make no claims to be perfect. What makes us special is that we
have come into a new relationship with God through the work of Jesus Christ. We
are "growing together," helping one another in our relationship with God. We
would love the
opportunity to help you in your relationship with God as well.
